Supper in the Orchard: Chef Chris Torjusen

Join us at Over the Hill Orchards and Winery for Supper in the Orchard featuring Chef Chris Torjusen, currently the head butcher and chef at Lakeview Fine Foods in Regina.

Chris, originally from Regina, developed his interest in food through his parents' and grandmothers' gardens, fostering a love for fresh produce from an early age. He began his culinary journey working at Danbrys (now crave) in high school before attending SIAST in Moose Jaw. After completing his education, he apprenticed under Chef Moe Matheiu at The Willow on Wascana.

Over the years, Chris gained experience working in various restaurants, including Ayden Kitchen and Bar in Saskatoon, where he honed his skills as a sous chef at Flip Eatery and Drink for three years. He later served as head chef at Malt City and Avenue Restaurant. Transitioning to fulfill his passion for butchery, Chris currently leads Lakeview Fine Foods.

His greatest passions lie in butchery, charcuterie, and Italian cuisine, particularly pasta. Chris is a vocal advocate for supporting local producers and frequently sources ingredients from farmers' markets for his menu offerings.

About Supper in the Orchard

The event begins on the outdoor patio (weather permitting) overlooking the beautiful valley, where you can enjoy a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage. Attendees are seated indoors beside large picture windows where the owners, Dean and Sylvia Kreutzer, briefly discuss the history of the orchard and introduce the chef(s) for the evening. Between courses a 30-minute tour of the orchard is offered (weather permitting). Supper begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends around 9 p.m.
