Supper In the Orchard with Chef Jamie & Bryan Rice
October 12, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm CST
Join us for an exciting supper with Chef Jamie Deis, Bryan Rice, and the Scott Collegiate Tourism & Hospitality Students
Jamie Deis has been in the food industry for 20 years. His passion for cooking first emerged at a young age when he took an interest in his grandmother’s German style home cooking. Jamie finished his schooling and acquired his red seal chef certificate and worked his way up from line cook to executive sous chef at the Hotel Saskatchewan, and executive chef at College Park 2 seniors home.
Bryan Rice began his culinary journey at the age of 16 when he began his first job as a line cook. As a high school graduation gift, he received a copy of Anthony Bourdain’s book, Kitchen Confidential, which inspired Bryan to move to Edmonton to pursue an amazing opportunity to learn and experience life in the commercial kitchen. Bryan has been able to express his passion for the beauty of food through its incorporation into several visual art projects during his pursuit of a 5-year Arts Education Degree from the University of Regina. Upon convocation, he opened a successful community non-profit social enterprise restaurant that operated as an employability skills development and food industry training program for individuals striving towards financial independence from social assistance. As a teacher with Regina Public Schools for nearly 10 years, Bryan has had the privilege of building the majority of his career with Scott Collegiate students and running the commercial cooking projects such as the very popular and well attended “Taste of Scott”.
